If I told patients to raise their blood levels of immunoglobulins
or killer T cells, no one would know how. But if I can teach
them to love themselves and others fully, the same changes
happen automatically.
-Bernie Siegel, MD

Scientists have known for some time that stress, anger, hate, resentment and other
negative emotions raise blood pressure and shorten and speed breathing. These emotions
affect many other parts of the body as well; they can even create disease. They
hurt the person toward whom you feel those emotions, and they hurt you as well.
Feelings of love do just the opposite. Love reduces tension, decreases blood pressure,
and lengthens and slows breathing. It is said that feelings of love can heal. They
benefit both you and the receiver. Love brings peace to us and others. Going into
our hearts and consciously allowing love to come in can make the difference between
a good day and a bad day. Sending out love to everyone fills us with peace while
it heals our bodies. At the same time, it makes a difference to those
around us.

When I send thoughts of love to myself, to my family
and friends, and out into the world, I know I am making a
difference. I know I am helping create world peace.
