A burden shared is a burden cut in half.
Some of us find it difficult to talk about what is really going on in our lives;
to share our secrets, our fears, and especially our shame. Some people say they
will take certain things to the grave with them, that they will never reveal this
or that. The fear of really letting ourselves be seen cann override any advantage
we receive when we share our burdens.
Instead, we choose to keep things inside and let them fester.
Ultimately, this can make us sick. Harboring secrets keeps us stuck.
Worries become exaggerated and take over our thoughts, destroying our special moments,
blocking our peace of mind.
Finding just one person we trust, with whom we can be vulnerable, can bring us so
much freedom. What a great relief it is to be able to trust enough to talk about
what is going on in our lives. Knotted stomach muscles relax and our breath flows
more freely. Depression, headaches, and back pain can even disappear as we feel
healthier, happier, and more peaceful.
Today I pray that I can trust one person in my life with whom I can be completely
honest. I ask for the willingness to let go of any fears that keep me from being
completely open with this person
